I have now succeeded in obtaining the aesthetic that I wanted for this doll when I purchased her. The La Dee Da dolls are some of the most appealing doll designs I have ever seen (to me, in any case) but that is purely the doll itself. I couldn’t give a crap about modern fashion so when I purchased her it was always my intention to give her a classier, more Victorian-esque feel.
The wig I purchased from Luts (much prettier, all pink with soft ringlets instead of the bleached-blond crimped hair the doll came with) and the dress from Sofia on Etsy. (Which is GORGEOUS and wonderfully made, such incredibly good workmanship)
So excited to have it all come together and she looks fantastic!
So I took her outside today to take some pics, and here they are 🙂
I have really loved the look of the Monster High dolls from the first moment I set eyes on them.
But the show is so spectacularly bad that I never allowed myself to buy one. Which is really unfair of me, I mean, I collect the mini Lalaloopsies even though the Lalaloopsy show is awful.
Anyways, because Iv gotton a bit more obsessed with dolls lately, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Monster High. Which is a hard endeavor since all of them look fantastic and every single design is to die for. It took me weeks to make my decision, but in the end I decided on this lovely Draculaura with the gorgeous bat wings.
Ill play with her hair some over the next little while. I really do love Lagoona as well and I think Ill get one of her next.
Heres a few more pics of Draculaura on my shelf!
Time for a post about Free Comic Book Day!
At Free Comic Book Day I picked up four freebie books.
The Kaboom! book with Adventure Time, Regular Show, Peanuts and Garfield.
And I made a vlog about it! Check out my thoughts on my cool swag 🙂
So today was FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and I got some really sweet looking comics.
I haven’t had a chance to sit down and read through them yet, so Im going to make a FCBD post showing off my new goodies sometime tomorrow when I can talk a bit about their content and not just the lovely cover art!
In the meantime however I wanted to talk about DOLLS. I did go to Toys R Us today while I was out and about (Hit them right after the comic book shop) and I got Allie Lectric, my first Novi Stars doll.
I was debating about getting a Monster High doll (and I think I will next time, Draculaura most likely) or a Novi Stars, both doll lines that are gorgeously designed and that I have been reading about online a lot. Novi Stars won out because Allie was on sale. Allie is amazingly adorable, and happens to sport my favorite colour combination, green and pink. I love her cute little elf-like ears!
The idea of a fashion doll line of aliens is awesome to me. (Much like the idea of a fashion doll line of monsters!)
Iv been looking online of course at BJDs an awful LOT and have been seriously toying with the prospect of ordering a Pullip or a J-Doll. Both pretty cheap lines for BJDs, so something that might be affordable for me to sink my teeth into. I swear someday Ill be able to afford something from Dream of Doll!
As kinda a place holder today I thought Id post a quick pic of the newest addition to my My Little Pony toy collection. I never bought the pink Princess Celestia, holding out for the white one instead. Not the giant one that talks, but the small size that fits in to scale with the other toys in my collection. As soon as my local Toys R Us gets in some of the new ones I do plan on getting Sunset Shimmer as well, but my own branch is a bit behind the others.
Tomorrow being FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is very exciting, and hopefully the next day after that Ill have a post with all the loot I pick up then!
Well Iv been mucking around with my La Dee Da’s hair.
I took it down from the pigtails and tried to dye it all pink instead of the bleached blond it came as.
The dye job turned out kinda okay. It didn’t take as much as Id like and there is still a lot of blond in her hair, but I did manage to do it without ruining her hair or getting any dye on her “skin”.
But my biggest issue is the hair itself, I don’t like crimped hair and would prefer some nicer curls or ringlets. I would attempt to style it but the hair itself isn’t full enough and she would end up with bald patches so I have ordered a wig for her! End all this hair headache 😛
Iv also ordered her a nice handmade dress (Monster High clothes and La Dee Da clothes will fit each other as my research has lead me to discover.)
I have decided to name her Rose since shes going to end up being very pink 😀
(Now if I can only find someone who will do doll piercing and tattooing!)
And just in case you thought all of my collections were of the SUPER GIRLY kind, I have recently taken to collecting the Kinder Egg hotwheels toys.
This has become my daily gamble. Buy a Kinder Egg, hope for a car.
I like the thrill of the mystery. Its cheaper than lotto tickets, and even if I don’t get the toy I wanted, I still get chocolate! So, all in all, a great way to collect something I think.
The other day I picked up just the most kickass mug that I have ever owned at Chapters.
They had a whole series of Game of Thrones mugs, one for a bunch of the different houses.
I waffled a bit between Stark and Targaryen (Speaking of Targaryen look at this amazing Daenerys Pullip *_* ) but in the end I decided on Stark because “Winter is Coming” is badass and I am Canadian, so I feel that I have something in common with the Starks.
This is definitely the kind of mug one wants to drink mead out of.
In some slightly related collecting, I picked up a new set of Chessex dice as well.
They didn’t serve me very well in my Pathfinder game last Sunday, but they are very pretty.
Ill give them one more game to roll better or I may not use them anymore.
