MAKIE Unboxing/Faceup

Special Old Toys Video

Since Im trying my hardest (and boy, is it hard!) to hold off on buying any new dolls untill my Makie arrives, heres a video to fill my blog out a little bit in the interm.
This video is about my oldest, most sentimental toys. Iv talked about D before, but here are two others! Oh, and a Kinder Egg!

 

Elissabat

Next up on my recent additons: A brand new Monster High that I have had my eyes on since her photos started floating around the Internet.
Her and Jane Boolittle were the two new ones Iv been really excited about, and although my stores have yet to get Jane Boolittle in, I did manag to obtain Elissabat.

Im a huge fan of vampires, and I have a Draculaura already (and indeed there are some other Draculauras I would like to add to my collection). But Elissabat has a certain suave sofistication that Draculaura lacks.

 

The beautiful dress does a lot, its quasi medieval gothic look is captivating. The simplicity of the design intregues and draws me in. Her hair is immaculatly styled and she just embodies the sleek elegance of “less is more”

Her appeal to me is very similar to that of Raven Queen. Black and purple looks fantastic and her gothic vibe is mysterious and elegant all at once.
Am I saying elegant a lot? Im sorry, she just, WOW.

    

Shes also crazy photogenic too. She just looks friggen GOOD and I cant get over it. What a delightfully, darkly beautiful vampire lady. :3
Now I just need to track down a Jane Boolittle already!

Raven Queen

Newest Ever After High doll to be added to my collection is none other then Raven Queen!
And honestly, while I always thought Maddie was going to be my favourite EAH doll, Raven’s gothic elegance has totally won that spot. I think shes the most gorgeous of the three I have actually. Her dark beauty has thoroughly bewitched me. :3

One of the reasons that I adore these EAH dolls is the absolutely gorgeous medieval fantasy outfits. Monster High is fine, but its all modern fashion which I find kind of boring. EAH’s appeal is all in the lacy old fashioned gowns that look like the walked right out of a fairy tale. Swoon!
Ravens get up is no exception and she looks exquisite. Everything you could want from a gothic evil villainess (made even awesomer by the fact that, if you’ve seen the webisodes, you know shes not actually evil at all!)

Shes also got amazingly styled hair which impressed me a lot more then either Apple or Maddie. The shape the hair takes is perfect, and looks like she walzed right out of the cartoon!

In general Im also finding these dolls to be better quality then the Monster Highs, particularly in the nice stiff joints and all around sturdiness of the dolls. They seem to be built for collecting and displaying!

Ill be keeping my eyes out for Cedar Wood next! 😀

Rarity!

As I am collecting the My Little Pony: Equestria Girl Deluxe version dolls, I was super stoked when I heard that one of the next Deluxe version characters to be released would be none other then Rarity! She is one of my top favourite characters on the show, and out of all of them, she strikes me as the one most suited to a fashion doll.
So a few days ago I picked her up, and was very happy to have done so as Iv been waiting for her for a while now.
The dress that I have her in is a dress from the La Dee Da doll line. Even though I actually quite like the two outfits she came in, I think that this colour suits her better. It does after all match her cutie mark perfectly!

The dress is the La Dee Da “Design to Shine” fashion pack, minus the green boa that comes with.
The slimming cocktail gown is absolutely perfect for the character and fits her to a T.
I also put her hair in an up-do (which took me many tries with many horribly failed attempts), because it seemed like it fit well with the outfit. Rarity is a classy gal, after all.

This is he dress the doll comes in in the box. Its quite a nice dress actually, and I like it on her quite a bit, I just always pictured Rarity in a slim and sleek cocktail dress. But, of course, she rocks both. But the purple is another great colour on her, matching her hair wonderfully.

And then we have the alternate outfit the doll came with. Which I appreciate that someone else also thought a tight-fit gown would be great for Rarity, I think this colour is pretty icky on her. Not a huge fan of the weird poof thing on her hip, either.

Altogether though shes great, and really, if any doll deserves to have a diverse wardrobe, its Rarity.

PINKIE PIE PARTY!

Alrighty! Pinkie Pie PART TWO!
Been waiting for this dress to arrive so that I could do a post about non-Boutique Pinkie Pie, because she IS the reason I bought both in the first place.
To remind: Only Boutique (gothy) Pinkie Pie was released with a deluxe body, but I really wanted the normal from-the-show Pinkie Pie with a deluxe body, so I ended up buying both and swapping their heads and boots. I then purchased a new, more character accurate dress for my normal Pinkie Pie,  and voila! Here she is.

The dress is from a really great Etsy shop that I have purchased doll clothes from before. Her work is always great quality and I am thrilled with how amazing and adorable this darn dress is :3
This is exactly the kind of cute, fun, and exuberant dress that I picture Pinkie Pie wearing, and it suits her to a T. Now its made with a Monster High doll in mind, which are quite a bit taller then Equestria Girls dolls, so the dress ends up being much longer on Pinkie then it would be on a Monster High. I also wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t QUITE so high necked. But Im pretty darn pleased with how it fit all in all.

I also stuck her hair in pigtails because why the heck not. I love pigtails and if any of the Equestria Girls were going to wear pigtails, it would obviously be Pinkie Pie.
Her hair BTW is much much much curlier and wild then the Boutique Pinkie Pies. Its so frizzy Im worried to touch it too much. Its ludicrously crazy and I love it, because it is absolutely perfect for Pinkie.

So now I just have to track down a Rarity!

Dee Dressed and Fixed up!

You may recall that a short while ago I posted some pictures of my old childhood doll Dee. I didn’t have a lot of hope of ever getting him into decent shape, because he was so ratty and run down, but I have succeeded I think, in making him presentable again 😀

First of all I tracked down some acne cream with benzo peroxide, and treated his face for about a week. The pen marks came RIGHT OFF! Im very excited that he has a bright clean face again. Then I gave him a good wash, and unfortunately discovered that his body really is quite permanently stained that grey colour, unless I wanted to bleach him or something, but really the simpler solution seemed to be to clothe him, so that’s what I did.

I got the outfit from a lovely little Etsy shop. AM – PM Creations makes adorable handmade clothes for Bitty Baby and Bitty Twins dolls, which turn out to have almost the exact same measurements as my Dee. I don’t remember what clothes he originally came in, but Iv always associated him with the colour blue, so blue is what I went with. I think these pajamas suit him to a T!

 

No, he dosnt look “like new”, and never will again. But he looks presentable now am I am tickled as punch to put him on display now. Hes spent much too much time buried at the back of a closet 🙂

Elsa! Disney’s Frozen

After a very long and drawn out battle with UPS who lost my package, I have finally received my Disney Store order! This is the Disney Store exclusive Elsa doll, which as usual is worlds better and more movie accurate than Mattels version of the character.

I am SO EXCITED for Frozen, you have no idea. The new trailer looks amazing and I cannot wait for this to hit theaters next month. Im even more excited because of all the controversy buzzing about it, because I love me some good controversy. If you aren’t aware, people are angry that the characters are white, that the characters are blond (kind of? Their original hair colour has been changed by ice magic, but okay), that the characters look similar to the Tangled movie (because Disneys never done that before) and that the story, which is said to be based on The Snow Queen, has nothing to do with the Snow Queen at all except that it… has a Snow Queen in it.

Oh yes, discussing this movie will be fun.
Anyways, I absolutely love Elsas character design. So I ordered the Elsa doll and here she is!

Shes completely regal looking, and very icey. Her dress is gorgeous, all glittery and translucent. My only real issue with the dress is how stiff the fabric is… it dosnt flow very well, and this is kind of my reason for not getting the Anna doll as well. Her dress looked way too stiff and rigid. Elsas is better, but its still not nearly as full as I would like it to be and does not look nearly as good as Meridas dress for example.
That said, its still a great outfit and I really love that its elegant without being absurdly provocative. Elsas a classy lady 😉

No stand, so I have to display her sitting, which is not really how Id like to display her since Disney Store dolls sit really awkwardly with their legs splaying out. But Ill probably get a stand for her eventually.

Whats probably the best thing about this doll for me is the awesome hairstyle. Its wonderfully to look just like the movie, and its a very unique style that you wouldn’t probably see anywhere else. The product in the hair holds it in place and you can really get the feel that her hair has been frozen by ice magic.
The other thing is her pale pale skin tone. Shes exceptionally pale. with almost a purple hue, and it is very eerie looking. You can really buy that this character has been overtaken by ice magics and it looks fantastic.

All in all I really love this Elsa doll, and will probably get Anna too sometime down the line.

Catty Noir

Its time for another Monster High doll!
Id seen a bunch of reviews of her online and was kind of enchanted by her so I thought Id track her down. She came and went pretty quickly from my local Toys R Us so I didn’t get a chance to snatch her off the shelf, but was very pleased to find her offered on Amazon with free shipping, so here we go.

Pink and black is one of my absolute favourite colour combinations, so I was instantly taken with her appearance. Shes also a kitty cat, which I absolutely love. I LOVE anthro dolls, they have a lot of appeal to me, and they look great!
Shes absolutely stunning with her big hot pink hair and Im a huge fan of her massive pony tail. I do wish that the hair wasn’t so messy though, its a tad matted and brushing it dosnt really help. Im sort of afraid to touch it too much lest I make it worse, but it is very pretty.

Probably the only reason I waffled on this purchase at all (and as a result, missed getting her in store) is because Im not really sold on her dress. I like the huge pink ruffles, but Im not a huge fan of the broken glass pattern on the top. It looks a bit like spiderwebs to me and I don’t really think it fits. But she IS meant to be a music idol, so we can let a crazy outfit slide. I think it would be really fun to dress her up in a tiny Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj replica outfit!

Here she is on the shelf! Brings my total of Monster High dolls to four.
Theres clearly some space for more 🙂
